"I was born in New York, grew up in Los Angeles, and lived in San Francisco, Florida, Vancouver B.C. Canada, and Doha, Qatar.  My first profession was a television/movie makeup artist in Los Angeles in the mid 80′s. In 1996 I moved to Portland to start a family. After having two beautiful children and staying at home with them for 4 years I decide to follow my dream to become an esthetician. After working with faces for so many years this was the next journey for me and my passion for people, healing, wellness and inner/outer beauty transformation. I started my internship at a lovely destination spa, Aequis. The following year I created a small sanctuary ~ KIVA-Face Body Soul in a private office in northwest Portland.  In 2008 I opened Face Body Soul, on Fremont street in Portland’s Beaumont Village. I moved to Qatar for 2 years, while there I went back to being a makeup artist for a TV show. After returning from Qatar in 2012, I opened KIVA Cafe & Spa.It has been a lovely journey and I am honored to be amongst so many talented therapists that all have a passion for health and  wellness with a  Mind-Body -Soul connection.

Health is Beauty- Beauty is Health."

"My training began in 1999 in Arizona, at Southwest Institute of Healing Arts.   In 2007, while working in a chiropractic clinic, I started working intensely with clients to help release holding patterns in the muscle through Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release and Physiotherapy with a focus on relaxation and energy work, including Reiki. I am a believer in the mind-body-spirit connection.  I incorporate several modalities in a single session to assist clients with their current massage therapy goals. My interest in acupuncture and East Asian medicine began in in my early 20s after struggling with health issues that conventional medicine failed to adequately address and treat.  Through my own experiences and research, I came to view the body as an ecosystem that strives to maintain an equilibrium both within itself and with the surrounding external environment, and that illness and pain are the result of an imbalance within the body.  In my practice, I seek to identify those areas of imbalance or blockages, and utilizes acupuncture, gua sha, cupping, herbal medicine, shiatsu, moxibustion, herbal medicine, and electroacupuncture to help the body regain its equilibrium.

I graduated from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine with a Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and I am currently working to finish my Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.   I am also currently working to complete a Master of Science in Nutrition degree at the National University of National Medicine.  I've completed a 500-hour yoga teacher training program through the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica in 2011, and in 2012, I earned a health coach certificate through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.  In 2013, I became a certified Reiki practitioner.

When I am not treating patients, I can be found reading and cuddling with my cat, writing, studying photography, running, practicing yoga, and planning future travel
