"My training began in 1999 in Arizona, at Southwest Institute of Healing Arts. In 2007, while working in a chiropractic clinic, I started working intensely with clients to help release holding patterns in the muscle through Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release and Physiotherapy with a focus on relaxation and energy work, including Reiki. I am a believer in the mind-body-spirit connection. I incorporate several modalities in a single session to assist clients with their current massage therapy goals. I have a passion and deep knowledge in Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Pregnancy Massage, Hot Stone Massage and Spa Body Treatments. I moved to Portland in 2012. "I graduated from East West College of the Healing Arts in Portland, OR, where my unique fusion of intuitive Eastern and Western techniques took shape. I am in constant awe of the innate ability of mind, body, and soul to heal, which drew me to using bodywork to assist in this process. I have trained in Swedish Relaxation, Deep Tissue, Tui Na, Cupping and Gua Sha, Acupressure, and Neuromuscular Therapy (Trigger Point).
I am experienced in working with acute injury, automobile accidents, chronic pain, pregnancy, anxiety and depression, energetic release, and wellness/relaxation massage. With a detailed understanding of the musculoskeletal system and its functions, as well as intuitive listening to both a client and their body, I addresses physical and energetic issues, gently ushering your body toward its own natural healing abilities. "I was born in New York, grew up in Los Angeles, and lived in San Francisco, Florida, Vancouver B.C. Canada, and Doha, Qatar. My first profession was a television/movie makeup artist in Los Angeles in the mid 80′s. In 1996 I moved to Portland to start a family. After having two beautiful children and staying at home with them for 4 years I decide to follow my dream to become an esthetician. After working with faces for so many years this was the next journey for me and my passion for people, healing, wellness and inner/outer beauty transformation. I started my internship at a lovely destination spa, Aequis. The following year I created a small sanctuary ~ KIVA-Face Body Soul in a private office in northwest Portland. In 2008 I opened Face Body Soul, on Fremont street in Portland’s Beaumont Village. I moved to Qatar for 2 years, while there I went back to being a makeup artist for a TV show. After returning from Qatar in 2012, I opened KIVA Cafe & Spa.It has been a lovely journey and I am honored to be amongst so many talented therapists that all have a passion for health and wellness with a Mind-Body -Soul connection.
Health is Beauty- Beauty is Health."
